Message from the Principal

Dear Plato Academy Family,

Welcome to Plato Academy Tampa.

Fully accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Plato Academy Tampa represents the best in school choice. Our prestigious tuition free public charter schools are smaller in size than traditional public and charter schools and we take the time to get to know each child very well to better teach them according to their unique interests, learning styles, and abilities. Our accelerated liberal arts curriculum combined with second language instruction in the Classical and Modern Greek Language provides students with exciting technology-infused, hands-on, project-based learning opportunities that result in memorable, inspiring experiences.

I am very pleased that you are taking the time to learn more about our excellent school—the first of the superior Plato Academy Schools to be located in Hillsborough County. Plato Academy Tampa will open carefully and small, serving only grades PreK through 2nd grade in its first year of operation, growing with its students to serve PreK-8th grade. This phase of our development is critical and it all begins with developing strong relationships with our students. Plato Academy Schools have exclusively earned “A”-ratings from the state and we have continuous improvement plans in place to ensure that our student performance steadily grows. Be sure of this: Plato Academy Tampa will soon be ranked among the very best of Tampa’s schools.

At Plato Academy, with our small class sizes and small student body, comparable to private schools, every student is well known and cared for by teachers and staff who are as passionate about education as they are capable in the classroom. From the instant your children first step foot in our school, to the day they graduate, Plato Academy Tampa will be a safe, nurturing environment that respects the whole child and helps children achieve high academic and behavioral expectations, ensuring they develop character traits that will lead to fulfilling and successful lives serving their communities.

Families choose Plato Academy because we offer children opportunities to learn and grow as individuals and prepare them for college and life beyond. Parents remain committed to the school because of the sense of community and the individual attention we give to each child as we help them achieve their full potential. Thank you for joining us in our efforts to challenge students to pursue their personal quest for excellence by engaging them in a rigorous academic program and offering them opportunities to educate the mind, the heart, the body, and the human spirit. Thank you for choosing for your children a well-rounded academic education in a safe and inspiring high expectations environment.

Respectfully,

Matt Gunderson
Principal of Plato Academy Tampa
