Dear Plato Academy Families,
As you know, Subtropical Storm Nicole is forecasted to be heading in our direction in the next 24 hours.
Plato Academy’s policy is to follow the closure schedule of the respective districts each of our schools are in to ensure families with siblings at other public schools have the same consistency of care. Currently, schools will be closed on the following days:
- Plato Academy Pinellas Schools will be closed on Thursday, November 10th and will continue to follow the closure schedule of Pinellas County Schools.
- Plato Academy Trinity will be closed on Thursday, November 10th and will continue to follow the closure schedule of Pasco County Schools.
- Plato Academy Tampa will be closed on Thursday, November 10th and will continue to follow the closure schedule of Hillsborough County Schools.
As always, with regards to hurricanes, Plato Academy Schools, including our VPK and Early Learning programs as well as all extended care services, will act in accordance with the districts their schools are in. If the district closes its schools, we will close our schools in that district. We are in steady contact with Pinellas County School Districts regarding Subtropical Storm Nicole.
When it comes to opening or closing our schools, we will take many things into consideration, including possible road closures, high winds, damage to school buildings, and power outages. We must also keep in mind that traditional public schools often serve as emergency shelters during these times. Even if our area gets minimal effects from the storm, please remember that the storm could be impacting people from other areas of the state and forcing them to evacuate to our area. As soon as we are sure our facilities are safe and the districts announce a return to school, we will provide updates as soon as possible.
We encourage our families and employees to take all necessary precautions at their homes and plan for the possible effects of the storm. You can stay up to date with the latest information with our email updates and on Plato Academy Schools Facebook page, and on our website: www.platoacademy.net.
Thank you and stay safe,
Danielle Cicetti
