On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I would like to wish you a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer.
Understandably, you must be concerned about how the coronavirus will impact the 2020-21 school year in terms of: when school will open, whether it will be in traditional face-to-face mode, distance education, or some combination, and, of course, that your children stay safe. Our hope is to welcome all students physically back to school, as that is the ideal situation. Yet, in this evolving time, we must all remain flexible and open to change.
Please know that we are monitoring the situation and discussing these issues on a daily basis. The ultimate decision about what we must do depends on the state and our individual school districts: we are obligated to follow their instructions. When there is a specific plan in place that is not likely to change, we will communicate that plan with you, as well how we will fulfill it.
Meanwhile, we are also doing things that are within our own control, such as how to maintain our campuses as clean, safe, and sanitized as possible. We are in the planning stages for enhanced sanitizing for shared spaces, hiring and training additional staff as necessary, encouraging the use of outdoor space when weather and logistics allow, and increasing the availability of hand sanitizing stations with locations being extremely user-friendly and accessible.
Plato Academy always remains committed to the safety and health of our students, families, and staff, and this will be a continuation of that commitment; a journey that we will take together.
As more information develops, we will let you know.
Again, we wish you and your children a restful and enjoyable summer, and look forward to seeing you in the next school year!
Chairman, Board of Directors
