At Plato Academy, learning happens everywhere, even in the kitchen! Recently, our students had the chance to trade in their pencils for aprons when Chef D stopped by to film a special bonus episode of the Proforma Family Cooking Show right here at our school.
Energy, laughter, and delicious smells were evident as students became active participants in the culinary experience which was not just a cooking demonstration, but an interactive adventure blending learning, creativity, and teamwork.
A PB&J Masterclass with a Twist
One of the highlights of the day came when a lucky student got to wear the official Chef Hat and direct Chef D in making the ultimate peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This fun role reversal had everyone smiling and proved that great ideas can come from even the youngest chefs.
Lessons in Kitchen Well-Being
Before any cooking began, Chef D led students through a hands-on lesson about the importance of proper handwashing. This valuable skill not only keeps the food safe but also reinforces healthy habits that extend far beyond the kitchen.
Rolling, Filling, and Baking Calzones
The excitement continued as Chef D showed students how to prepare homemade calzones from scratch. From rolling out the dough to adding their own creative fillings, students discovered the joy of making their own meal and learned that cooking can be both an art and a science.
More Than Cooking
While the food was delicious, the day was ultimately about collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence-building. Seeing our students step out of their comfort zones and shine was the true reward.

We are so proud of our students for embracing this unique learning opportunity and cannot wait to see what they will accomplish throughout this school year.
