What is Plato+?

It is a Gifted-inspired morning and afternoon academic enrichment program that rotates subjects throughout each day and a new theme each week. Plato+ gives kids a chance to explore and enjoy learning in a well-managed supportive and fun setting. At Plato Academy, we believe every child is gifted and it is our job as educators to help children identify, nurture, and celebrate their unique gifts. Plato+ is fully NOT for profit and all the revenue earned for Plato+ is used to improve Plato Academy programs.

Plato+ is coordinated and taught by certified education professionals at all Plato Academy Campus locations. The program is structured around engaging weekly themes to help kids build authentic, multi-disciplinary connections between skills and the world around them!

What does a typical day look like in Plato+?

Plato+ morning session typically starts with homework help, tutoring, organization work to prepare for the school day, enrichment stations then a read aloud. During the afternoon session students will start with a snack and reading time, calming mindfulness activity then creative enrichment activities.
Students with homework report to the homework area first.

The typical lesson plans for afternoon enrichment activities start with instructions, math, literacy, science, then an additional activity related to the weekly theme.

Homework Assistance – Our educators provide a quiet and supervised environment for students to work on their homework. If students complete their homework early, they will have quiet activities to choose from.

Enrichment Activities – Students will participate in fun, enrichment-based activities such as arts and crafts, science experiments, drama, etc. Enrichment unit topics such as Sweets and Treats, Time Travel and Outdoor Fun which change every week.

What will my child eat for a snack? Is breakfast provided for those in Plato+ before school?

An afternoon snack will be provided for all afternoon students. If your child has food allergies, please alert the staff.

Children are welcome to bring their own snacks from home (please make sure they are nut-free). Some examples of snacks are fresh fruit, fruit cups, crackers, granola bars, raisins, and fresh items like yogurt and cheese.

Plato+ does not provide breakfast before school, however, children are allowed to bring a nut free snack from home if they would like. Breakfast begins at 8:15 a.m. at all Plato Academy campuses.

What educational background does the Plato+ staff have?

All Plato+ staff members are qualified to teach in the state of Florida. Additional training, mentoring and coaching is also provided throughout the school year.

What is the student to staff ratio at Plato+?

Student to staff ratio is 1:20 max at each location. As enrollment grows, educators will be added to ensure student to staff ratios are always followed.

How do I register for Plato+?

You can register and pay online using your credit card or debit card using the RevTrak platform.

Plato+ was cancelled today, will I get a refund?

Refunds will not be provided for programs canceled due to weather, facility issues, school closures, school-dictated space unavailability, or any other circumstances beyond the direct control of Plato+.

Are we charged for days that my child does not attend Plato+?

There are no refunds given for any days of student non-attendance.

How do you handle discipline issues in Plato+?

The parents, students, and staff of Plato+ are expected to adhere to the Plato Academy School’s policy. When necessary, disciplinary action is noted on a Behavior Notice that is to be signed by the parent within 24 hours of the incident. Suspension will commence no later than 24 hours after a serious or repeated behavioral incident occurs. A parent conference will be requested if disruptive behavior continues. Termination from the program will occur when a student displays chronically disruptive behavior and/or dangerous behavior.

Is there a fee for late pick-up?

Yes, there is a charge of $1.00 per minute for late pick-up.
