A Great Opportunity for Students to Explore Careers
Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater and Recruiting Office Tampa Bay recently hosted our students to an exciting open house event. The Open House aimed to showcase the diverse missions, impressive aircrafts, and rewarding careers within the Coast Guard by welcoming students at the Air Station facilities and showcasing the USCG mission which involves law enforcement, search and rescue, maritime safety & security, and national defense.
Our students, accompanied by the school Principal, Mrs. Kathleen Neptune, their teacher Mr. George Patides who initiated the request, and parent chaperones, had the chance to speak with crews, learn about various aircrafts including HU-60T, C-130H, the new C-27J, and explore static displays. Additionally, aviation and support rating representatives were on hand to provide insights into different career paths within the Coast Guard.
Our group was welcomed by the friendly crews at the Clearwater Air station gate, located at the St. Pete-Clearwater Int. Airport and our guide was Commander Shay Williams, also a proud Plato Academy parent.
For our students, this event provided a unique opportunity to gain first hand experience of the vital work conducted by the men and women serving at the Coast Guard.
Events like this one play a crucial role in broadening the horizons of students and encouraging them to explore diverse career pathways.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater and Recruiting Office Tampa Bay for organizing this enriching event, expressing our sincere appreciation and respect for the work they do, often behind the scenes, for our community and country.
We would especially like to thank Commander Williams, for being out guide, sharing his enthusiasm for the mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, and answering all our questions during this unforgettable visit.
