What steps were taken to address the concerns before termination?
Prior to termination, efforts were made to address and rectify the identified safety and security concerns through dialogue and collaboration with Superior.
What is the History of Plato Academy and its relationship with Superior Schools Corporation: The first charter application was in place for the Clearwater campus in 2004, with Ms. Wilson as the first principal and the Plato Academy Governing Board. Steve Christopoulos took over Plato Academy Schools as principal in 2005 and created Superior Schools Management Company to manage the schools along with the Plato Academy Governing Board. In 2009, Plato Academy Schools officially became the entity with which the Pinellas County School District contracted for the charter agreement for the Clearwater campus. After 2010 the Plato Academy Schools system grew into nine charter schools. In 2019, Plato Academy Schools separated from Superior Schools Management Company, and Plato Academy Schools managed the system of schools with the Plato Academy Governing Board. We have now terminated the remaining agreement for Early Learning and Extended Care programs that Superior Schools maintained after the termination of the management agreement. A full timeline will be provided on our website.
