On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the auditorium at Plato Academy of Tarpon Springs echoed with applause, pride, and the unmistakable energy of achievement as students, families, and faculty gathered for the annual Athletic Excellence Awards. A Night to Celebrate Perseverance and Teamwork
The organizer and MC for the event Plato Academy Schools’ Director of Athletics Justin Davis (RAA RMSAA) opened with a reflection on what it means to be a champion at Plato Academy: the willingness to embrace challenges, the discipline to balance academics and athletics, and the drive to persevere through adversity. It was noted that success is not measured solely by points on a scoreboard but by the character displayed in the classroom, on the field, and in everyday life.
Spotlight on Champions: Fall, Winter, and Spring
The awards began by honoring the champions of the fall season. The Girls Volleyball team from Plato Academy St. Pete took center stage, earning recognition for their outstanding teamwork and resilience. The Boys Soccer champions from Plato Academy Largo followed, their season marked by determination and unity.
The celebration continued with a spirited performance by the cheer squads from Clearwater and Trinity: a display of energy and enthusiasm.
Winter sports achievements were next. The Girls Basketball team from Plato Academy Clearwater was recognized for their back-to-back championship seasons, a proof of their consistency and drive. The Boys Basketball team from Clearwater also received accolades for their exceptional performance. In Girls Flag Football, Plato Academy Palm Harbor emerged as champions, while the Ball Hockey team from Palm Harbor was lauded for securing their third consecutive undefeated season-a rare and remarkable feat.
Track athletes were asked to stand and be recognized, highlighting the program’s commitment to honoring every discipline and the effort behind every stride.
