Eighth-grade students at Plato Academy Clearwater demonstrated their technological prowess and problem-solving abilities on Wednesday during presentations of their Digital Information Technology (DIT) Capstone projects.
The students presented their work to a judging panel, showcasing both custom-built blogs and practical technology solutions designed to improve daily operations at the school.
“This project gave students an opportunity to work in collaborative groups while exploring technology applications and developing essential presentation skills,” said a DIT instructor.
For the legacy component of their projects, students were tasked with identifying school practices that could become more efficient through technology integration. The young innovators focused on streamlining several key areas of school operations, including:
- Car line management systems
- Digital student sign-in processes
- Communication platforms for school information
- Centralized access to school applications
Panel members expressed significant praise for the students’ applications and presentations, particularly noting their critical thinking abilities and practical approach to solving real-world problems.
“The judges were impressed by how these students applied their technical knowledge toward creating practical solutions,” said the campus’ technology teacher Jessica Fresia. “They developed projects with genuine potential for implementation.”
The Capstone project serves as a culminating experience for the DIT program, allowing students to synthesize the technical skills and knowledge they’ve acquired throughout the year.
This initiative represents Plato Academy Clearwater’s commitment to preparing students for future success through hands-on technology education that emphasizes both technical skills and practical application in collaborative environments.
