Plato Academy Largo welcomed back eight former students on Tuesday, April 22, in an eagerly anticipated event designed to give current middle schoolers a glimpse into High School life.
The “Meet the High School Students” event, which followed March’s successful “Meet the College Students” gathering, brought together alumni now attending various Pinellas County high schools with seventh and eighth graders in the school’s cafeteria.
“They were all excited to be back, and we are very happy to see them again” said Ioannis Giavaras, the school’s Greek Language teacher. The returning students, now scattered across different high schools, reconnected with their former campus while providing valuable perspectives to current students.
During the session, the alumni discussed their academic performance, sports involvement, club participation, and peer relationships. Many highlighted how the Greek Language credits they earned at Plato Academy Largo have proven valuable in their current academic pursuits.
The returning students represented various grade levels and schools across the county:
Ninth Grade:
- Ava Block (Osceola Fundamental High School)
- Antony Krastev (Shorecrest Preparatory School)
- Marco Rodriguez (Osceola Fundamental High School)
Tenth Grade:
- Emma Diers (Largo High School – IB Program)
- Tyler Fabiszewski (Clearwater Central Catholic High School)
- Vuk Veselinovic (Pinellas Park High School)
Eleventh Grade:
- Tara Todorovic (Osceola Fundamental High School)
- Anjelina Cappelan (Tech High School – Nursing Program)
The school presented each participant with a Certificate of Recognition for their contributions. Adding to the day’s significance, attendees also celebrated Ava Block’s birthday during the event.
This initiative reflects Plato Academy Largo’s ongoing commitment to maintaining connections with former students while helping current middle schoolers prepare for their upcoming transition to high school environments.
