ST PETERSBURG, FL – Saturday evening at Al Lang Stadium delivered far more than soccer. Plato Academy students stepped onto the field alongside the athletes, marking an unforgettable moment for the school’s community engagement initiatives.
The October 25 event drew families to watch the Rowdies face Detroit City FC, transforming a regular season match into a community celebration.
Pre-game activities gave young participants direct interaction with professional athletes, an experience that bridged the gap between classroom aspirations and real-world achievement. After an exciting game, the evening concluded with a fireworks display that marked one of the year’s most successful community gatherings.
The collaboration between Plato Academy and the Tampa Bay Rowdies served dual purposes. Ticket proceeds benefited the Plato Education Foundation, which funds academic programs and student resources throughout the year. Meanwhile, local soccer gained enthusiastic new supporters from the school’s community.
“The energy and teamwork throughout the night demonstrated what defines our community,” said Plato Education Foundation’s Community Engagement Director Savella Carosa. Faculty members attended alongside students and families, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom boundaries.
For Plato Academy families, the evening offered more than entertainment. It demonstrated how Plato Education Foundation brings people together through shared experiences, strengthening community bonds while supporting educational programs.
