Plato Academy Clearwater – Titan Family Update
As we are navigating this ever-changing situation we are in, please know that we are planning and sharing what we can as we have it. I know that there are many questions and I honestly wish that we had all of the answers.
At this time, we know that Pinellas County Schools will be hosting a workshop meeting on July 14th and their plan will be announced sometime after that. As a charter, we require their guidance but I can assure you that we will do everything we can to keep our students and families safe.
That being said, one thing that we have immediate control of is Open House.
Open House is a spectacular event that allows you to meet your teachers and get excited about the new school year. It is the event that starts our year off with all of the positive energy and is one of my favorite days of the year.
In order to keep our families safe we are going to be hosting a VIRTUAL Open House this year. Teachers will record themselves and will tell you about themselves and the classroom. They will answer all questions that usually arise in open house and will show you around the class, discuss expectations and hopefully get the kiddos excited to return on the first day. There will also be a time scheduled for you to join the teachers on Google Meets and have some face-time to ask any questions that you have. The only exception to this will be Kindergarten, who will be invited to come for short visits, one at a time.
I know that this is different, but at this time or focus is going to be providing the best education is the safest environment, following all directives given to us by the state, county and CDC. If you have concerns please feel free to reach out and I will do my best to provide you with any answers that I have.
In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for more information and enjoy the remainder of your summer!

We are here for you
Dear Plato Academy Clearwater Families,
Plato Academy’s mission statement describes the environment of our schools as “fostered by a commitment and cooperative effort among the school, students, parents, and community.”
These last few months have been a challenge for us on many fronts. We wish to offer our families, caregivers, staff, and stakeholders the support and promise to be there for your needs. Our counselors, administrators, and staff strive to provide an inclusive learning environment, one in which we lift all equally to achieve their highest potential. If you or your family needs support, we are here; just reach out. Plato Academy is more than academics, and we are proud to support our families. Our commitment will always be to you.
As we proceed toward the 2020-21 school year, Plato Academy is preparing for a safe and healthy school opening by readying our schools and our staff for both a physical and mental health safety plan. As details develop, we will keep you informed. For now, let us come together as school and community to support each other and our students.
Have a wonderful summer!
June 4, 2020
Although this school year began like every other year, the 2019-2020 school year ended like no other. It was bittersweet in so many ways. The lessons learned of strength, resiliency, flexibility, perseverance, and determination will be taken into our future school years to come. We have learned a greater appreciation of our personal connections and relationships, as well as how quickly we can adapt and be successful in completely new and uncharted situations. On the other hand, it was difficult to not be able to say goodbye face-to-face to each of our students and families, and to personally wish everyone a relaxing and joyous summer break. It was not how any of us would have chosen to end the school year. But like the Titan Family we are, we have risen stronger and more courageous than ever.
We are grateful beyond words for your support and partnership this school year, especially in the last months of school. Our distance learning program would not have been the success it was without you. The home/school connections have always been valued and important, but they were absolutely essential during our online schooling. The saying “it takes a village” is even more meaningful and appropriate now, and all of us at Plato Academy Clearwater are thankful for you and your partnership.
Please know how much we care for and appreciate you, and how very much we miss you. Please be safe and stay well!

Plato Academy Clearwater Titan Family Survey
Dear Plato Academy Clearwater Families,
I am writing to you to announce a very important survey requesting your feedback.
Your thoughts are incredibly important to the school improvement process. So, please, take the time now to complete the survey. The parent survey takes only 10-15 minutes. Simply click on the link and you will be able to take it immediately. You will only complete the parent survey once, even if you have multiple students at PAC.
Since your students are home with you, we also appreciate your help in making sure that your student completed their designated survey. We only need one response per student. We appreciate your assistance in having them complete the correct survey in their own words.
Thank you again for your constructive feedback and continued support.

I am excited to introduce myself to you as the next Principal of Plato Clearwater. This is my eighth year with Plato Academy. I grew up in western Maryland and moved to Pinellas County right before middle school. I have been here since then, graduating from Countryside High School and then St. Petersburg College. I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education K-6 with Reading and ESOL endorsements. When I began my teaching career I was hired at Plato Academy Seminole and taught both Kindergarten and 2nd grade before pursuing my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida. I then became the Assistant Principal at Plato Academy Seminole and have worked closely with Mrs. Staab over the past few years, learning how to lead a school with compassion and purpose.
Although I have spent my career as an educator at Plato Seminole thus far, I am thrilled to join the PAC team! Being part of Plato Academy means being part of 9 sister schools, each filled with equally wonderful educators and leaders. I have worked with Mrs. Beck in the past when we were both part of the Kindergarten team and again recently as fellow assistant principals. I am thankful for her support and expertise as I embark on a new journey at PAC and I can assure you that we will work closely to ensure your families have a smooth and positive transition. My personal philosophy of education directly aligns with the Plato Academy mission statement and I am dedicated to ensuring the families at Plato Clearwater receive the same top-notch education that they have in the past, with a specific focus on high expectations and a nurturing environment.
The mission of Plato Academy Charter Schools is to assist students in achieving their full potential by requiring and nurturing high academic and behavioral standards in a safe, supporting, challenging, and enthusiastic environment, providing a well-rounded K-8 education fortified by a study of the Greek language and culture, and fostered by a commitment and cooperative effort among the school, students, parents, and community: our family.
The vision of the Plato Academy Charter Schools is to progress as a family in which all are teachers and learners and are empowered and encouraged to exceed expectations, resulting in successful graduates ready to advance into their next stage of life, equipped with a well-rounded K-8 education fortified by the study of the Greek language and culture, and excited about continuing to achieve their full potential.
Plato Academy Schools are all fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and schools as managed by AdvancED. SACS provides nationally recognized accreditation, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance. To earn accreditation, schools must meet SACS CASI’s high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school and implement a continuous process of school improvement.
